Artificial intelligence is becoming part of everyday life. Many of us now use it to write, solve problems, organise ideas, generate images and even help make decisions. It is an extraordinary tool, and I use it myself every day.

But there is another question that deserves our attention. As AI becomes more capable, what might it quietly change within us?

This is the question I explore in this week’s episode of Unbox The Podcast. Rather than discussing technology itself, I wanted to look at something much closer to home: our judgement, imagination, intuition and ability to recognise our own voice.

Why This Conversation Matters

For many years, I have worked with people who wanted to change something in their lives but could not understand what was holding them back. That work eventually became my Four Dimensions of Change™ (BEMA™), which looks at the Body, Emotions, Mind and belief systems, and Accountability to actions.

Today, I believe that framework has become even more relevant.

When we know ourselves well, we are far more likely to recognise whether an idea genuinely resonates with us or whether we are simply accepting the first polished answer placed in front of us.

That does not mean rejecting AI. It means remaining present while using it.

Imagination Still Belongs to You

One of the ideas I explore in the episode is the relationship between imagination and change. We often think of imagination as something artistic or reserved for creative people. I see it differently.

Imagination is where possibility begins.

If we cannot imagine another way of living, leading, creating or thinking, it becomes much harder to bring that future into reality. Technology can generate ideas at remarkable speed, but it cannot replace the deeply personal process of discovering which ideas genuinely belong to you.

A Simple Exercise to Try

That is why I also share a simple exercise you can try before asking Artificial Intelligence for help.

Instead of opening a prompt immediately, spend five minutes with a blank piece of paper. Write down your question and allow yourself to respond first, without editing or trying to sound clever. Then compare your thoughts with what AI produces.

  • What did it add?
  • What did it miss?
  • What surprised you?

You may discover that the greatest value does not come from choosing one over the other, but from becoming more aware of your own thinking.

For me, that is where conscious collaboration begins.

The Future Still Needs Human Perspective

AI will continue to evolve. It will become faster, smarter and more integrated into our lives. I do not see that as something to fear. The opportunity is to make sure that, as technology becomes more powerful, we become more self-aware.

Your judgement still matters.

Your imagination still matters.

Your intuition still matters.

Most importantly, your own voice still matters.

I hope this episode encourages you to pause, reflect and perhaps recognise something about yourself that has been there all along.
